SHELTER wiki and ontology finally released!

The SHELTER team has developed the “SHELTER wiki”, a platform meant to provide a common space to share core definitions and materials. You can check it out here: https://wiki.shelter-project.cloud/



Within the SHELTER Wiki, the Ontology has been released to ease common understanding of key concepts.

In fact, the topic of resilience and sustainable reconstruction of historic areas to cope with climate change and hazard events stands in the intersection of three big fields: climate change adaptation, disaster risk management and cultural heritage management, under the umbrella of sustainable development. This intersectionality, together with the nebulous nature and heterogeneous roots of some of the key concepts addressed in SHELTER (such as resilience, sustainability and community) made it necessary to develop mechanisms to build a common understanding within the consortium and the Open Labs.



This effort will be maintained during the whole project and the ontology and core vocabulary will evolve with the needs of the project. The ontology will then inform and facilitate other activities in the project, including the definition of the multiscale and multisource urban and regional model and the Resilience ID.

Every term in the SHELTER ontology is part of the SHELTER Core Vocabulary. Each term has been correlated with its own definition, an icon to facilitate the visualization and recognition of the term, and tags (e.g. types of hazard addressed, relevance for the SHELTER Open Labs) have been added to better filter the vocabulary contents.

Using the SHELTER ontology, our 5 Open Labs together with the SHELTER team will be enabled to a common understanding leading to facilitation of activities in the project e.g. definition of the multiscale and multisource urban and regional model and the Resilience ID.
