The Ravenna Open Lab just launched the implementation of the whole set of tools for the SHELTER integrated monitoring strategy

On July 14th, the Ravenna Open Lab organized a press conference to enhance the dissemination of the Shelter project actions in the area of Santa Croce at local level.

During the conference the activities of the CIRI Building and Constructions (Interdepartmental Centre for Industrial Research in Building and Construction of the University of Bologna) multidisciplinary research team working to achieve the objectives of the project was presented. The research group developed and implemented a multi-approach monitoring strategy for the Santa Croce area to monitor the situation of the site under different aspects. The sensors and tools network installed both inside and outside the Church gather data from the geomatic, hydrological, structural engineering, conservation of materials and geotechnical field. The aim of the project is to implement an integrated management plan, replicable also in other heritage sites of the city exposed to hydrogeological risk.



The Municipality of Ravenna and the Superintendence of Ravenna, owner of the archaeological area and manager of the site, two of the main stakeholders of the Ravenna Open Lab, also took part to the conference.

All the speakers emphasised the need to act with an integrated approach and synergy among all the stakeholders, highlighting the value and potential of the activities carried out within the Shelter project.
